Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows

I have finally finished reading all 7 Harry Potter books!! wahahah~ (without owning a single one XD). It took me less than 3 days to finish the last book, despite all the assignments and studying i had, because i simply could not, could NOT put it down!

J.K Rowling’s style in this series seemed to have changed so much! This series, which captured so much readers, started as a children’s book with so much magic and fantasy. Maybe it’s the effect of the movies but towards the end it turned so dark! But Harry, from beginning to end, was our dear lovable, good protagonist.

The Deadly Hallows relayed a lot of the happenings throughout the story. It was a very great wrap up, however I still think “All was well” is a very… mediocre ending, to say the least, of such a great series. But I am still glad of the “happy ending”. As always, it’s after I finish reading a whole series (this happens with anime, manga as well) that I wish there was more coming. (But of course I made sure there won’t be so I didn’t need to feel 吊起來). This book seemed to portray a very different image than the rest of the series lead us to believe; there was foreshadowing of course.

Dumbledore, whom I seriously thought he couldn’t die, due to his unbeatable power that the story always lead me to believe. However, I was glad to know he did also have his “dark” side, his “troubled past” that lead him to be such a great figure. It still didn’t stop me from despising him a little for all he lead us to believe, all the “history” he never revealed, but it was all for the “greater good“. I couldn’t help but feel and understand Harry’s frustration and anger towards Dumbledore through the story, but i guess, along with Harry, I learnt to understand him. It made Dumbledore more human, at least.

Harry… what can I say. the typical protagonist throughout. His typical-ness seems, boring, in some ways. but… how can you not helped but be drawn in by his anger, his will to defeat Voldemort.

Voldemort, the typical atagonist, haha… a poor troubled boy whom was born evil i guess…

Sirius… okay, there’s no “other side” of him, simply because he turned up in one book and died by the end of the next. Why??? his existance seems so… pointless. Why create him then destroy him? unless it was to explain all the friends of James Potter, the previous generation…just to give Harry another false hope.

And of course, i left my most dearest, lovable character to the end…

SEVERUS SNAPE!!! dear Sev…♡

From his first appearance in HP and the Sorcerer’s Stone he appeared to be an atagonist, the one who would find any excuse to give Harry a detention, the one determined to make Harry’s life miserable, till the 6th book where he gave so many indication that he was turning back to the Dark Lord. But when you discover the true reason behind all this…how can you help but ♡ him!!! And you wonder why he had gone to such lengths to save Harry… was it to keep him for Voldy?

Another long silence. Then Snape said, “I thought… all those years… that we were protecting him for her. For Lily.”

“I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter’s son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter – ”
“But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?”
“For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!” From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe. She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
“After all this time?”
“Always.” said Snape.

And you realize that the memory in the previous book, which Harry accidentally found out, the memory that caused him to fly in such a rage, was not due to embarrassment or anger at James Potter, but regret and giult for the unforgiven words “mudblood” at the one person who truly cared for him.

I can’t help but wonder, what if, what if Lily gave him one more chance the night outside Gryffindor tower, would this story happen at all? Snape, despite all his insecurities, his horrible father, his hated upbringing, had done more than any of the other characters had done. Throughout all the misunderstandings, even when he knew nothing can bring Lily back, he gave his life to protect the thing she died to protect. The one that he both loved and hated, the one that tormented him so much. And maybe he had wanted to be a Death Eater so much, because it gave him a sense of belonging and strength that he never had in his life, but he was willing to betray all that just to keep Lily’s memory alive.

“Maybe I’ll break the tradition. Where are you heading, if you’ve got the choice?”

He flapped after the girls, looking ludicrously batlike, like his older self.

Teehee… the idea of him flapping was just really funny!! XDDDD

“Severus?” A little smile twisted Snape’s mouth when she said his name.

The moment she had insulted James Potter, his whole body had relaxed, and as they walked away there was a new spring in Snape’s step…

All the little things that made him attracted to Lily. ♡//////♡”. wuwuwuwu~ The Prince’s Tale chapter should have been made into a whole book!! And how could his death be so…pointless!! Just because dumb Voldy didn’t bother the check the facts!! Sev didn’t need to die!! *cries*

“Look…at…me…” he whispered.
The green eyes found the black, but after a second, something in the depths of the dark pair seemed to vanish, leaving them fixed, blank, and empty. The hand holding Harry thudded to the floor, and Snape moved no more.

To think that the last thing he saw, was Lily’s green eyes and holding onto Harry till he could no longer. *cries harder*. But then again, I was happy that story was known just before he died. I mean, can you imagine him, who had taken such lengths so protect himself from more pain and appeared to cold and distant, to be warm and loving? or even if he didn’t die at that point, how much Harry would hate him and despise him if he was the one to tell Harry how everyone had protected him so he could die at the right time? Or if he was going to jump in front of Harry and take Voldy’s Avada Kedavra curse? Severus Snape was such an interesting character from the start, the one who could read minds, would try so hard to punish Harry but always save him at the end. Maybe because the series didn’t give enough or maybe because this book is still fresh in my mind, but I can’t help but feel even James and Lily’s love to be so shallow compared to his.

But since he was a headmaster at Hogwarts, although a very short time, maybe he would still have a portrait in the Headmaster’s office? Maybe he will live again through Albus Severus Potter??
